On July 19th, 1913, Doris Kathleen Spicer (sitting) and her sister Norah embarked on a return voyage from Barry, Wales, UK to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

They sailed on the Steam Ship St. Oswald with their father, the ship's captain, Walter Blythe Spicer.

This is the diary that Doris kept during the journey and includes photographs she and her sister took en route. She also collected a number of interesting postcards. I have added other photographs and postcards of interest. The handwritten pages were transcribed and have been left in their original text with some spelling and punctuation added. My comments or explanations are in brackets or italics.

Many thanks to Neil, Wynne, and Odette for help on the first paper edition of this book.
